Why was Adrian's Girl Isabel Lucas passenger in the car during the crash with Shia LaBeouf?

It is still a mystery of the Shia LaBeouf's accident why actress Isabel Lucas was along for the ride, even though she had been dating Entourage's Adrian Grenier.
It’s suspected that the reason Lucas, 23, was not with Grenier that night is that he apparently had recently been spending time with the model Melissa Keller.
Adrian has been going back and forth between dating Melissa and Isabel, says a source. But since the accident, Adrian has been by Isabel's side, and we're told they haven't been apart since.
Only two days before the accident, Adrian Grenier, 32 and Melissa Keller was on a date for the former Sports Illustrated model of the 30th birthday party at a friend's house in Echo Park.
After the accident Isabel, who walked away virtually unscathed, Grenier has placed his romance with Keller in the background and has gone back to Lucas. "Isabel was quite badly shaken," said one source. "He is very protective of her."
